This is my Drupal project in development for a geo-discovery application. TourSheet.com has coined the term social placemarking, where people share and tag geographic things of interest to discover new locations, conversations and activities. When people group together sharing their place-based knowledge, values, and experiences electronically through social placemarks they can access thousands of hours of other people’s contributions. Also by grouping other people’s place-based experiences, it’s possible to spend less time searching for local knowledge and more time discovering personally tailored recommendations of the topics and things local communities value most. The application is being built on open APIs so that developers can build all kinds of applications that center around location via the TourSheet.com social placemarking SDK.
TourSheet is being created to answer the demand of mobile and local users who want to see spatial information where they need it when they need it. We live in a very complex world and I hope to not only deliver the communities data to the user but that he understands the community voice. My vision is to increase community and economy by engaging social interactions at neighborhood locations. My mission is to facilitate a system that creates a trusted network of resources, relationships and entertainment for the Toursheet.com community. Members of all ages and social status share their knowledge, values and experiences with others as a platform to foster local discovery of fun neighborhood activities or places.
Im excited to be pushing the limits of my passion; Community Mapping. Beautiful and interesting maps are at the other side of my "canal mania" for the TourSheet project. My belief is that social placemarking will help make a productive difference in our worlds society. TourSheet.com will be the discovery engine of local community relationship media, commerce, and other personal group tagged content centered on GIS boundaries, places, and points.
